4 Easy Ways You Can Feed Your Soul With Positive Thinking

Imagine that you go into your kitchen to get a glass of water.

You grab a cup and turn on your faucet and out pours dark and mucky water. Your entire glass becomes full of that.

Your soul is just like that glass of water. Whatever you pour into it is what will fill it. That includes the music you listen to, the movies you watch, the food you eat and even the people you hang around most.

Now take that same glass but this time you’ve been feeding your soul with positive books, exercising and eating right and challenging yourself both mentally and physically. That water looks a lot more appealing now.

So how does one go about getting clean water? The answer is by feeding your soul with positive thinking and here’s how.

The Friends You Keep

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with,” Jim Rohn.

Before I continue, I am in no way shape or form saying that you should get rid of all your current friends.

If everyone in your current circle is all about positivity, progressing in life, evolving in every aspect of their life, then you may be lucky and can grow with your circle.

However, if that’s not the case and you can’t see yourself creating something great, something that can not only impact your life but the lives of others in a positive manner, it may be time to look for new friends.

Negativity is like a cancer. It can spread, drain your energy and make you a shell of yourself.

At the same positivity works in a similar manner. It is contagious, can change your outlook on life and when combined with other factors can help you achieve great things. Join a Meetup group, local club, or organization where you’ll be surrounded by people that push you to your limits.

Don’t worry if you wish to find your old friends. They will most likely be right where you left them, behind.

Got Off Social Media

The fastest and easiest way to remove negativity is to take a break from social networks. Social media, for the most part, does not benefit us in any way.

It allows us to connect with people who we would not usually talk to. Also, to be updated instantly with the click of a button. The downside is social media is the first place we go to express our dislike, hate, and negative feelings to the world. Do not allow social networks to be your public journal.

Take 20-30 minutes every day to disconnect from social media and connect with your environment. Begin to allocate that time to work on bettering yourself. That time could be used for meditation, exercise, or something that will take your mind off of the hustle and bustle of your daily life.

Sweat It Out

There is no question that “health is wealth”. When you look good, you feel good and that all plays into your positive thinking. Greatly improving your mindset and how you feel about yourself are benefits of being fit, but it also works the other way.

Positive thinking can you help you crush your workouts. When you don’t feel like going to work out or are struggling on that last set or finishing your final mile, positive thinking kicks in.

In an interview with Men’s Fitness, Common, the Grammy-winning rapper, actor and author had this to say about the benefits of positive thinking and fitness,

“That mentality of growth and positivity carries over to the gym, as well. “I feel positive energy when I work out, even when I go in tired. You go in there with a mindset of the way you want to look and what you want to accomplish.”

Reading

“You will be transformed by what you read,” Deepak Chopra.

Positive thinking is a mindset. It has to continually be fed and one of the best ways to do that is reading.

Some of the best minds in history have placed their thoughts, experiences and knowledge into a book for you. There’s always something to be taken away from a good book. Especially when you’re looking to feed your soul with positive thinking.

Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, James Allen, Napoleon Hill and Rhonda Byrne are a few authors to keep in mind as you feed your soul with positive thinking.

Here’s a great list of books to help you feed your soul and get you started towards building a positive mindset.

The biggest thing to remember when looking to feed your soul with positive thinking is patience. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will a positive mindset.

It takes time but if you are patient, stay consistent and creatine routines for yourself, you can win.
